Let’s start our tour with charming ÓBIDOS, located about an hour’s drive north of Lisbon, it is a charming medieval village surrounded by medieval walls and cobblestone streets. We must breathe in its 2000-year-old history in a walk through its maze of flourished streets and whitewashed houses. Let’s try ginginha too -the local liquor made of cherry.
Then, we’ll visit NAZARÉ, the picturesque fishing village famous for its stunning beaches and massive waves where the BIGGEST WAVE surfed in the world. Here, you will explore traditional fishing culture, sample fresh seafood dishes at seaside restaurants, and admire the natural beauty of the local beaches with a breathtaking Ocean view.
To finish we can either visit the outstanding 14th century, BATALHA Gothic Monastery, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, holds Portuguese Royal Tombs and is one of the best examples of Flamboyant Gothic and a real symbol of Portuguese Independence. You’ll be surprised by the unfinished chapels and by the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Another option is to explore the impressive 12th-century ALCOBAÇA Monastery, holding the tombs of the Royal Pedro&Ines, our true tragic story of Romeo&Juliet.
This tour provides a fascinating combination of history, culture, natural landscapes, and authentic experiences, allowing visitors to discover the unique charm of each destination while exploring both the inland and coastal regions of Portugal.
